A cardiovascular physiologist in a university department of physiology, Devon Malone, PhD, focuses on cardiac muscle remodeling and circulatory function. In his laboratory, he investigates the cellular signaling mechanisms that prompt structural shifts in heart tissue during prolonged hypertension, tracking changes in capillary density and myocyte stiffness. He also lectures preclinical medical students on the fundamentals of hemodynamics and cardiac output. Malone earned an undergraduate degree in physiology and later completed a doctorate in cardiovascular physiology. He contributes articles on heart function to Biology Insights.
