Health questions. We are glad to answer questions about what an article says, but we cannot advise on your own health, diagnosis or treatment. Please ask a qualified health professional, and in an emergency contact your local emergency services. Do not send health information, passwords or payment details by email.
General questions, press, republishing and donations
- Questions and feedback. Ask about something in an article, tell us what you think, or suggest a topic. Include the article’s link if your message is about one. We read every message, but we cannot reply to every suggestion.
- Site problems. Report a broken link, a page that is not working or an accessibility problem.
- Press and researchers. Send press releases or news of upcoming studies, or offer a researcher for interview. If material is embargoed, give the embargo date and time.
- Republishing. Include the article’s link and where you want to publish it. We handle requests for the first 90 days after an article is published; after that, we will put you in touch with the author.
- Donations. Ask about a donation you have made. If you donated by mistake, email us within 30 days for a refund.
Corrections and complaints
- Errors. Include the article’s link, what you believe is wrong and, if you can, a source for the correct information. We acknowledge every report within five business days and correct errors that could affect someone’s health or safety as soon as they are confirmed.
- Misrepresentation. If an article misrepresented your research or your words, you can ask for a correction or a short response published with the article.
- Complaints and decisions. Complain about our standards or, if you are a contributor, challenge an editorial decision. We reply within 10 business days.
To reach the editor in chief directly, write “For the editor in chief” in the subject line. If you wrote the article, tell your editor instead.
Writing for us
- Pitches: [email protected]. See Information for Contributors for what to include. We reply to every pitch within two weeks; if you have not heard from us, reply to your original email.
- Drafts of accepted articles: [email protected], as a .docx file or a shared Google Doc. If you are already working with an editor, reply to them directly.
- Expert reviewers: to offer to review articles in your field, email [email protected] with your field and qualifications.
Privacy
Ask about your personal information or make a privacy request, including an appeal, with “Appeal” in the subject line. To opt out of personalized advertising, use the Privacy choices link at the bottom of every page.
Copyright and Terms of Use
Report a copyright problem by sending your contact details, a description of your work, a link to the material on our site and a statement that you own the rights or are authorized to act for the owner. You can also write with questions about our Terms of Use.
