Alexis Shah, DPT, WCS, is a pelvic health physical therapist at an outpatient women’s rehabilitation clinic and writes about postpartum physical recovery for Biology Insights. She started her career in outpatient orthopedics before redirecting her clinical focus toward pelvic rehabilitation, prompted by observing how few structured therapy options were routinely offered to new mothers. Shah completed an undergraduate degree in exercise science and received her doctorate in physical therapy from Cleveland State University. In her clinical practice, she treats diastasis recti and helps postpartum women rebuild core strength safely following childbirth, guiding them through personalized movement plans.
