Is Fiji Water Alkaline, and Does It Even Matter?

Fiji Water at 7.8 doesn’t quite reach that 8.8 threshold, so it wouldn’t have the same effect, but it’s closer than most tap or bottled waters.

For general hydration, the pH of your water matters far less than simply drinking enough of it. The mineral content in Fiji Water (silica, calcium, magnesium) contributes small amounts of those nutrients, but not enough to replace dietary sources or compete with a dedicated electrolyte drink during intense exercise.

pH Can Shift After Bottling

One thing worth knowing: the pH printed on a label or quality report doesn’t always match what’s in the bottle by the time you drink it. A study comparing popular bottled waters found that the majority tested more acidic in the lab than the values listed in their water quality reports. Exposure to air when you open the bottle, the plastic packaging itself, and storage time can all nudge pH downward slightly.

This doesn’t mean Fiji Water becomes acidic, but a bottle that’s been sitting on a shelf for months may test a bit below 7.8. The shift is small and has no meaningful health impact, but it’s a useful reminder that pH values for any bottled water are approximate rather than guaranteed at the moment of drinking.
