At a regional hospital in Bar Harbor, Maine, Maureen Chavez, RN, worked for years assisting with interventional heart procedures. She now writes about cardiac care for Biology Insights following 13 years of nursing across emergency departments, coronary care units, and catheterization labs. Chavez still takes weekend emergency on-call shifts at the hospital for acute cardiac events. She completed her bachelor of science in nursing at Radford University.
