Some natural deodorants, even without aluminum, might contain other metallic elements or residues that could interfere with imaging.
Beyond deodorants and antiperspirants, other personal care products applied to the chest or underarm area can also cause issues. Lotions, creams, body powders, and even some shimmer products might contain metallic particles or create a residue that shows up as white spots on a mammogram. It is advisable to avoid applying any such products to the breast or underarm regions on the day of the mammogram to prevent interference and ensure image clarity.
Preparing for Your Mammogram
To prepare for a mammogram, it is advisable to shower and thoroughly wash the underarm and breast areas before your appointment. On the day of the mammogram, do not apply any deodorant, antiperspirant, lotions, creams, or powders to your underarms, breasts, or chest. If you accidentally apply deodorant or forget the instruction, inform the technologist immediately upon arrival at the clinic.
