Common Reasons for Flat Aloe Leaves

Underwatering
Insufficient water is a common cause of flat aloe leaves. When the plant does not receive enough moisture, it draws upon water reserves in its fleshy leaves. This depletion causes leaves to thin, shrivel, and flatten. The soil will also appear completely dry, often pulling away from the pot sides.
Overwatering
Overwatering can also lead to flat or mushy leaves, leading to root rot. When roots sit in soggy soil, they are deprived of oxygen and decay, impairing water and nutrient absorption. Root damage results in leaves that may turn pale, yellowish, soft, mushy, or translucent, and eventually flatten. A persistent foul odor from the soil indicates root rot.
Insufficient Light
