A Gastroenterologist (GI) specializes in the digestive system, focusing on the non-surgical management of gallbladder and biliary tract conditions. Their expertise is crucial when surgery is not immediately necessary or when the diagnosis involves complex bile duct issues. GIs manage chronic conditions like biliary dyskinesia, a functional disorder where the gallbladder muscle does not contract properly, causing pain despite the absence of stones.
