Defining the Ideal Location

They are sun-loving plants that require a minimum of six hours of direct sunlight daily to produce the most vibrant and plentiful blooms. Insufficient sun exposure will often lead to a plant with fewer flowers and “leggy” growth, where the stems stretch out weakly in search of light.

In regions with intense afternoon heat, light shade during the hottest part of the day prevents wilting or stress. Perennial varieties are hardy and thrive across a broad range of USDA zones. Adequate air circulation is important, helping prevent damp conditions that lead to fungal diseases. Taller varieties should also be placed where they receive shelter from high winds, which can snap their slender stems.

Excellent drainage is the most important soil characteristic, as daisies are highly susceptible to root rot if their roots remain in standing water. Well-draining soil should not hold excess water after a rain or watering session.
