Indeterminate varieties, or vining tomatoes, continue to grow and produce fruit until frost, often reaching heights of six feet or more. These plants have a more extensive root system to support their continuous growth and fruit production. For indeterminate types, the minimum container size should be 10 gallons, but for maximum productivity, a 15-gallon to 20-gallon container per plant is recommended.
