How Gravel Forms

Gravel originates through both natural geological processes and human industrial activities. Natural gravel forms when larger rocks undergo weathering, where physical forces like freezing, thawing, wind, and water break them down. Chemical reactions also contribute to this breakdown.

These rock fragments are then transported by erosion, primarily through rivers, glaciers, and ocean waves.
