A visible deformity or unnatural bump may be present if bone fragments have shifted out of alignment. The limb might also be tender to the touch, with an inability to move or bear weight. Medical professionals diagnose a spiral fracture through physical examination and imaging tests like X-rays, which reveal the distinctive spiral pattern. For detailed assessment, CT scans or MRI may evaluate bone damage and surrounding tissues. Initial management involves immobilizing the limb to prevent further injury and reduce pain.
Healing and Rehabilitation
The healing process for a spiral fracture depends on its location, severity, and whether bone fragments are displaced. Treatment often begins with immobilizing the affected limb using a cast, splint, or brace to keep the bone stable and aligned.
