Similarly, the angle or slant of the palpebral fissure can provide diagnostic clues. Upward-slanting palpebral fissures, where the lateral canthus is positioned higher than the medial canthus, are often noted in individuals with Down syndrome. This feature is typically accompanied by the presence of epicanthic folds, which are skin folds covering the inner corner of the eye.
