It is important to avoid sugary or caffeinated beverages, as they can worsen dehydration.
Rest is also beneficial for recovery, allowing the body to conserve energy and heal. Once vomiting subsides and appetite begins to return, gradually introduce bland foods. The BRAT diet, consisting of bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast, is often suggested because these foods are easy to digest and can help solidify stools.
It is advisable to avoid solid foods, dairy products, and fatty, spicy, or acidic foods until symptoms significantly improve. These foods can irritate the digestive system and potentially trigger further vomiting.
