If X-rays are inconclusive, a CT scan can provide clearer, three-dimensional views of the bone structure. Managing a Pars Defect
Initial management of a pars defect typically involves conservative approaches aimed at reducing pain and promoting healing, often including rest and modifying activities to avoid movements that aggravate the condition. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may be prescribed to manage pain and inflammation. Physical therapy focuses on strengthening core muscles, improving flexibility, and correcting movement patterns to reduce stress on the spine. In some cases, a brace may be used to stabilize the lower back during healing, particularly for younger patients.
