Fasting vs. After a Meal

What About Children and Teens?

For kids, 95 mg/dL is also a normal reading. Target blood sugar ranges do vary by age group. For children with diabetes who are actively managing their levels, the goals are a bit broader: 100 to 200 mg/dL for toddlers and preschoolers, 90 to 180 mg/dL for school-age kids, and 90 to 150 mg/dL for teenagers. A reading of 95 sits at or near the lower end of all those ranges, which for a child without diabetes simply reflects healthy blood sugar regulation.
