These deeper indentations can be caused by various factors, including water runoff erosion, the settling of backfill after utility trenching, or activity from burrowing animals. Repairing these major dips involves temporarily removing the turf layer before filling the void underneath, which keeps the grass blades exposed to necessary sunlight. Preparing the Topdressing Mix and Tools
Successful lawn leveling relies on using a specialized topdressing material that provides structure without suffocating the turf. The best leveling mixtures incorporate materials that promote good drainage and aeration; sand typically forms the bulk of the blend.
