Selecting the Right Container and Placement

Container-grown carrots are susceptible to pests like aphids and carrot rust fly. Regularly inspecting the foliage allows for early intervention using insecticidal soap or manual removal. Ensuring good air circulation and avoiding overhead watering helps mitigate the risk of common fungal diseases.

Determine maturity by observing the exposed shoulder of the root where it meets the soil line; when the diameter reaches the desired size, the carrot is ready. Harvesting from a grow bag requires a different approach than harvesting from the ground. While some carrots can be gently pulled by grasping the greens, this risks snapping the root in the loose medium.
