Seed Selection and Preparation

The hard exterior must be compromised through a process called scarification to allow water to penetrate and trigger growth. Viable seeds will typically sink to the bottom of the container after soaking, while any that float should be discarded. Planting and Germination Environment
A light, well-draining potting medium is necessary to prevent the seeds from rotting during the germination phase. Long-Term Growth and Maintenance
Once the tamarind tree is established in its permanent location or large container, its care shifts toward maintenance for sustained growth. The established tree is notably drought-tolerant, but regular, deep watering during the active growing season will promote better health. In contrast, watering frequency should be significantly reduced during the winter or dormant period.
The tree benefits from a balanced fertilizer, such as a 10-10-10 NPK formula, applied every two to three months during the spring and summer growing season.
