This range accounts for the most common configuration, which generally holds 60 to 70 bags of two cubic feet in volume. A single two-cubic-foot bag of moderately dry shredded wood mulch averages about 35 pounds.

Calculating a baseline, 65 bags at 35 pounds totals 2,275 pounds. Adding the weight of the wooden pallet (typically 40 pounds) results in a total of about 2,315 pounds for a typical wood-based product. This baseline estimate is useful for initial planning but represents a moderate, almost ideal weight scenario. The actual weight can easily exceed this figure, especially if the mulch has been exposed to rain or high humidity.
