High repair costs and the unavailability of genuine replacement parts further incentivize consumers to purchase new devices rather than fix existing ones.

Environmental Consequences of Phone Waste

Beyond recycling, reusing phones extends their lifespan and reduces demand for new production, which can involve donating working devices to charities or organizations that refurbish them. Selling old phones or participating in trade-in programs are additional ways to keep devices in circulation. Repairing damaged phones instead of replacing them also reduces e-waste, conserves resources, and lowers carbon emissions.
