Jumping spiders, belonging to the family Salticidae, are a diverse group of arachnids found worldwide. These creatures are recognized for their exceptional vision, among the best in the arthropod world, and their remarkable jumping ability. Unlike many other spiders that rely on webs for hunting, jumping spiders are active predators that stalk and pounce on prey, utilizing their keen eyesight to navigate and identify targets.

Typical Size Range

The Largest Jumping Spiders

Native to Southeast Asia, this species can reach a body length of 1.8 to 2.5 centimeters (about 0.71 to 0.98 inches). It is one of the closest jumping spider species to reach an inch in length. Other large genera include Phidippus, Philaeus, and Plexippus, though their members do not typically attain the maximum size of Hyllus giganteus.
