Tiny Treasures: Unveiling Their Size
Hummingbird eggs are remarkably small, typically measuring between 0.5 and 0.8 inches (1.2 to 2 centimeters) in length. This miniature size makes them comparable to everyday objects such as a small jelly bean, a green pea, or even a coffee bean.
The Bee Hummingbird, the smallest bird species globally, lays an egg that exemplifies this extreme smallness. Its egg can be as little as 0.275 inches (6.985 millimeters) long and weigh approximately 0.05 grams (0.0009 ounces). For context, this weight is less than a single paperclip.
