Spider plants generally prefer a soil pH that is slightly acidic to neutral, ideally ranging between 6.0 and 7.5. Some sources suggest a slightly narrower range of 6.0 to 7.0 for optimal growth. This pH range directly influences the availability of essential nutrients in the soil.

When soil pH falls outside this preferred window, nutrients can become “locked out,” meaning they are present but in a form the plant’s roots cannot easily absorb. For instance, in highly acidic soils (below pH 5.5), phosphorus becomes less available, while toxic elements like aluminum and manganese may become more soluble.
