Foods Chipmunks Should Avoid

Processed human foods, especially those high in sugar, salt, or artificial additives, can lead to obesity and other health issues. Examples include candies, crisps, bread, and other junk foods that provide little nutritional value.

Specific natural items or garden plants also pose a risk. Avocado contains persin, a toxin harmful to chipmunks, particularly in the skin and pit. Rhubarb leaves contain oxalic acid, which is toxic, and apple seeds contain amygdalin, which can produce cyanide. Additionally, garlic and onions contain compounds that are poisonous to chipmunks and can cause digestive upset.
