One notable cooperative hunting strategy observed in Florida waters is “mud-ring feeding” or “mud netting.” In this technique, a group of dolphins works together to create a circular wall of mud by beating their tails, disorienting fish and forcing them into a concentrated area for easier capture. These dolphins also communicate through a range of vocalizations, including whistles, to coordinate their activities and maintain social cohesion within their groups.
