These large trees are typically deciduous or semi-deciduous, shedding leaves before or during flowering. They serve as canopy components in tropical forest ecosystems.

Where the Amapa Tree Thrives

Amapa trees are native to the American tropics and subtropics, distributed from Mexico and the Caribbean to Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil. They inhabit tropical forests, dry forests, and humid areas near rivers. Adaptable to various conditions, they grow from sea level up to 1,200 meters (3,900 feet).
