The company’s “Vision80” strategy, launched in 2018, outlined electrification as a central pillar for its future targets. While championing electric vehicles, Lotus recently adjusted its strategy to also include high-performance “Super Hybrids” in response to market dynamics.

A key milestone in this transition was the completion of a new production facility in Wuhan, China, in July 2022. This state-of-the-art factory, covering approximately 250 acres, is designed to produce 150,000 units annually and serves as a global center for Lotus’s premium lifestyle EV models.

These electric vehicles feature an 800-volt electrical architecture, which enables rapid charging capabilities. The Eletre can achieve a 10-80% charge in approximately 20 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger.

Both the Eletre and Emeya offer dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations. The Eletre’s base models produce around 603 horsepower, while the performance-oriented Eletre R boasts up to 905 horsepower, enabling a 0-60 mph acceleration in 2.7 to 2.9 seconds. The Emeya offers similar power outputs, with the R trim reaching 905 horsepower and a 0-62 mph time of 2.8 seconds. Ranges include the Eletre offering up to 315 miles and the Emeya up to 379 miles on a single charge.

Lotus continues to pursue market expansion and electric vehicle development. The brand aims to transition from a niche manufacturer to a high-volume global performance car company, targeting sales of 150,000 cars annually by 2028. Beyond the Eletre and Emeya, Lotus has plans for additional electric models, including a D-segment SUV (Type 134) and an electric sports car (Type 135).
