Giant rhododendrons are distinguished by their substantial size, with some species like Rhododendron protistum var. giganteum reaching 30 meters (100 feet) tall. Others, such as Rhododendron maximum, grow 10-20 feet in height and spread. Their leaves are large, leathery, and typically evergreen, sometimes exceeding 50 centimeters (20 inches) long. These leaves may feature unique textures, including scales or hairs on their undersides, varying in color from dark green to silvery-white or dull brown.
