  • A root canal may be the final course of action in severe cases where the nerve is persistently inflamed. This procedure removes the affected nerve tissue from the tooth, which eliminates its ability to transmit pain signals.

Preventing dentin exposure involves proactive oral hygiene and lifestyle adjustments. A primary step is adopting proper brushing techniques. Using a soft-bristled toothbrush is recommended to minimize abrasion, and a gentle, circular motion should be used instead of aggressive back-and-forth scrubbing.

Dietary choices play a substantial role in protecting tooth enamel. Limiting the consumption of acidic foods and drinks, such as citrus fruits and sodas, can reduce chemical erosion. After consuming something acidic, it is beneficial to rinse the mouth with water and wait at least 30 minutes before brushing to allow saliva to neutralize the acids and reharden the enamel surface.
